Expert: DDoS attacks in Russia more than year ahead of world level
MOSCOW, Jun 2 (PRIME) – Russian DDoS attacks are more advanced than similar intrusions in other countries by 12–18 months, that is why local financial companies and banks become subjects of cyberattacks more frequently, Alexander Lyamin, head of Qrator Labs, offering solutions to fight back DDoS attacks, said Thursday.
“By the quality of performance and innovations, the DDoS attacks we see in Russia are, as a rule, a year–year and a half in ahead of the world’s level. There are professionals, a school, there is a feeling of social exclusion,” Lyamin said.
DDoS attacks are a dynamically evolving type of malware in IT, as their number grew 18% in 2015 on the global level.
“The situation in Russia is more serious (than everywhere else). We’ve recently conducted a research in the banking industry and found out that every fourth bank faced the problem last year,” Lyamin said.
According to Qrator Labs, the number of DDoS attacks on domestic banks soared 50% in 2015 and by 70% on e-commerce.
The law-enforcement authorities said on Wednesday that they had uncovered a group of hackers who intended to steal 2.3 billion rubles from financial organizations and companies.
